Training

Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and analyze inventory transactions, including purchases, transfers, adjustments, and variances.
  • Maintain accurate cost data for inventory, including standard costs, overhead allocations, and adjustments.
  • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Prepare reports on inventory valuation, turnover, and cost trends to support decision-making.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and operations teams to optimize inventory levels and reduce costs.

Sales Tax Compliance/Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales tax regulations across all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns.
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and update company practices accordingly.
  • Respond to sales tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales tax calculations, exemptions, and payments.

General Accounting Support:

  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Provide support for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis related to inventory and taxes.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during financial and tax audits.
  • Assist Controller/Team as needed

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in accounting or a similar role in public and private/industry accounting. Public accounting experience a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and sales tax regulations.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.

Key Competencies

  • CPA, but not required
  • Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment or similar environment that contains cost accounting/inventory
  • Familiarity with multi-state sales tax compliance, but not required
